MAD OF LAKE
The craziest urban downhill race on Lake Garda
Tomas Slavik is once again the king of the Mad of Lake. The reigning Four-Cross World Champion, who has already won the City Downhill on Lake Garda in 2019, was the fastest of them all yesterday in both the morning qualifying race and the afternoon race.
The 35-year-old athlete from the Czech Republic, a true icon of the discipline, was a real lightning bolt on the spectacular downhill course of Toscolano Maderno:
a dive of one kilometre and 600 metres that starts in Montemaderno at 318 metres above sea level and ends in Piazza San Marco in front of the gulf at 86 metres.
That was the craziest urban downhill race, I've ever done in Europe
Tomas Slavik
A total of 232 metres of altitude on an urban course with jumps, parabolas and obstacles, which Tomas Slavik mastered with an irresistible leap, stopping the clock at 2:31:254 minutes. On the second step of the podium another name of excellence in the speciality, Frenchman Anthony Vidal, runner-up in the 2019 World Cup downhill top ten, who finished the race in 2'33"840. In third place, the first of the Italians, Cristoph Moser (2'35"111) from South Tyrol, second in 2021.
The Urban Downhill was held for the seventh time. In just a few years, the national race has become an indispensable event at the beginning of the season for gravity.
