Is it bad for my eBike battery to ride in sub-zero temperatures during winter?
No! However, it’s important to know that a cold battery can suffer significant performance and range loss, as colder temperatures increase electrical resistance. When riding in wintry conditions (even at single-digit temperatures), it’s crucial to begin your ride with a battery that’s as close to room temperature as possible. So, whether you're on the trail with an electric full-suspension or hardtail, expect different performance in winter and plan your bike tours accordingly.
Tip: When riding in freezing conditions, use higher assist levels. Ironically, this can extend your range because both the battery and motor will reach higher operating temperatures, preventing the battery cells from freezing and allowing them to perform more efficiently.

Storing the eBike Battery
In general, it’s important to follow the recommended temperature ranges when using and charging your eBike battery. These recommendations are usually found on the battery itself or in the user manual for built-in batteries. During the summer months, your bike and battery can safely be stored in a shed or garage. However, once temperatures drop, it’s best to bring them indoors.
