GHOST CLEANS HOUSE IN ITALY
This year’s MTB World Championships took place from August 27 until 29 in Val di Sole, Italy. In the Cross Country category, GHOST was represented by Anne Terpstra, Nadine RIeder, Nicole Koller and Caroline Bohé. Tomas Slavik, technical skills coach and GHOST specialist, competed for the World Champion medal in the 4X Men category – naturally also riding on GHOST.
Gold: 4x Men
Silver: Women Elite Cross-Country
Bronze: Cross-Country Women U23
SURPRISE OF THE WEEKEND: GOLD FOR TOMAS SLAVIK
Nobody expected this. Tomas Slavik won the Gold Medal on Friday evening and with it the World Champion Title in the 4X Men category. After only recently recovering from Covid, the favorite did not know if he would be able to live up to the role. Finishing in third place in the qualification did not exactly dispel these questions, but his superior performance from the first heat on left no doubt about the ambitions of the World Champion from 2010 and 2014: „I have had a few tough weeks health-wise and am far from 100%, but maybe that was exactly how it was meant to be. I've been here so many times in the best shape of my life and still couldn't bring it to the finish, today I can hardly put my feelings into words.“, says the World Champion.
GHOST COLLECTS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MEDALS WITH ITS FACTORY RACING TEAM
The medal “ball” was rolling and gained momentum the very next day through Caroline Bohé: In the Cross Country Women U23 category, she took the Bronze medal for her Danish team and GHOST – making it her first World Championship medal. Completely overwhelmed, the young talent spoke after her victory: „I am incredibly happy about the result today. The many years of training and agony are now paying off with the perfect support of our federation and my team behind me. I am so proud to have achieved this now in my last U23 Championships. Even though the course was tailored perfectly for me, I needed to deliver my maximum performance. Hats off and Congratulations to all my competitors!”
GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE: GHOST CLEANS HOUSE!
For GHOST, only Anne Terpstra could make the World Championship more perfect. With her victory in the Women Elite Cross Country category, the Dutchwoman took the runner-up World Champion title and made GHOST the triple winner! Her team mates Nadine Rieder and Nicole Koller were able to finish in 17th and 42nd place.
GHOST IN A STATE OF EUPHORIA!
“This is not normal!”, GHOST team manager Tom Wickles repeated over and over again. “To take the World Champion title, runner-up World Champion title and the third place in a World Championship competition that invariably features elite riders is absolutely exceptional for us.”
Congratulations to all GHOST riders and to the GHOST team on site for such a spectacular World Championship in Val di Sole, Italy! Thank you!
