BREAKING THE TAPE - THE IDEA
At GHOST-Bikes we have been developing bikes for almost 30 years. We have product managers who innovate every year, a successful cross-country team and the world champion in 4X. We celebrate bikes and victories every year.
With the documentary series, we want to show the invisible, the intangible.
Everything that stands between the creation of our bikes and the success of the athletes.
THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS
EPISODE 1
In the 2022 cross country worldcup season GHOST Factory Racing had tremendous success. The team spirit is high and new team members find their place into the squad. In the World Cup final, drama ensues when Caroline Bohé tests positive for COVID. Anne Terpstra fights for the overall win but finds herself with a gland infection. She fights, rides the race, but to no avail. The title is lost when she drops out in the race. Exhausted, shaking and trembling, she realizes how important her team is to her.

EPISODE 2
Tomas Slavik’s influence on the Four-cross scene and discipline is profound. In episode two of Breaking the Tape, we look at what factors played a role in deciding on what categories get onto that global stage and ultimately, what made the UCI decide to stop Four-cross. Slavik’s passion still carries the sport into the future as he’s thinking of the next eveolution of his Revelations event.
PRESSURE

Sport at the highest level creates tremendous pressure for everyone involved. Team staff, manufacturers and athletes work in synergy towards the ultimate goal. To reach that goal, everyone strives for perfection. As the sport and athletes evolve, so do the bikes they ride. Development of a new bike takes years yet is instrumental in making it to that top step.

E-bike races are increasingly gaining attention. Why is that? Is it just hype? Can motorised bikes even put athletes in the spotlight to look up to? Not only does it allow for different kinds of racing, but it also allows for adventures like never before and takes you to places that were previously impossible to reach. E-bike athletes Jeroen van Eck, Tomas Slavik and Martin Whiteley give us insights into the scene in the new episode.

It has been an eventful year for the GHOST Racing Team. Yellow plates for the girls on GHOST throughout the season, unforeseen hurdles and setbacks, new race formats for Jeroen and big plans for Tomas in the upcoming year. We're turning the page for what is next to come.
