Ciao mi ciamo Sara Cartinovis
but my friends call me “Esse.” I’m 20 years old, and for half my life, I’ve been on a bike. I live in Bergamo, Italy, running on a steady diet of coffee and pasta—proper Italian blood through and through.
My love for cycling began when I was just 8 years old during a family trip along the Rhine cycle path. That journey ignited a passion that has kept me pedaling ever since—both literally and figuratively.
At first, my races were anything but triumphant. Let’s just say I was more familiar with finishing last than seeing the podium. But honestly? I didn’t care—I was having the time of my life.Year by year, I improved, getting faster and stronger. Against all odds, I achieved my dream of competing in the World Cup. Since then, I’ve earned four World Cup podiums, a bronze medal at the World Championships, and a silver at the European Championships. Not bad for someone who started at the back of the pack!
Now, I’m chasing an even bigger dream: the Olympics. Every day, I’m working hard to make it happen. Wish me luck—I might need it, but one thing’s for sure: I’ll enjoy every moment of the journey.
Life on two wheels truly is the best ride ever!
